Kochi: The court will today deliver its verdict on the anticipatory bail petitions filed by actor and MLA Mukesh, and Idavela Babu, and Adv. V.S. Chandrasekharan, in connection with a sexual harassment complaint lodged by an actress. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court is set to issue the order. The court had heard detailed arguments regarding the defendants’ bail petitions yesterday.
Mukesh has claimed that the actress’s complaint, who is from Aluva, is false. He argues that there are other motives behind the complaint and alleges that attempts were made to blackmail him by demanding money. On the other hand, the prosecution has informed the court that Mukesh should be held in custody and interrogated without granting bail.
Charges including rape have been filed against Mukesh, Idavela Babu, and Adv. V.S. Chandrasekharan. The junior artist who has accused Mukesh has made serious allegations. She claims to have met Mukesh on the set of the movie ‘Calendar.’ Mukesh reportedly had a flat in Vytilla and invited her there. During the filming of ‘Nadakamay Ulam’ directed by Viji Thampi, Mukesh was staying in the adjacent room. She alleged that he came into her room, knelt at the door, then forcibly entered and assaulted her by pushing her onto the bed. She managed to escape and run away, she claimed.
The actress also alleged that Mukesh forcibly touched her private parts while traveling with him to a location in his car. When she threatened to jump out of the car, Mukesh stopped the vehicle and apologized. Additionally, she accused Mukesh of interfering and rejecting her membership application in the Actors’ Association as retaliation for her resistance.
