Kochi: Crime Nada Kumar has been taken into custody by the Ernakulam North police in a case for defaming actress Shweta Menon. The case was registered under the IT Act based on Shweta Menon’s complaint, alleging that he used his YouTube channel to defame her and spoke in a manner that insulted womanhood.
Following the complaint, the police had requested Crime Nada Kumar to delete the video from his YouTube channel. However, he refused to comply, leading to his arrest. The video was reportedly created using scenes from a commercial in which Shweta Menon had previously acted. The police will take further action after questioning him.
Nada Kumar informed the police that he could only remove the defamatory parts of the video. However, the police took a stance that the entire video was misogynistic. Nada Kumar also faces a case for creating a video that defamed Minister Veena George, and the police had acted on that as well. Additionally, there are charges against him for making casteist remarks.
