Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar) leader Baba Siddique was shot dead by assailants in Mumbai. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and chest but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Three people have been taken into custody by the police in connection with the attack.
The incident occurred when Siddique was leaving his office in the Nirmal Nagar area and getting into his car. He was shot in the head and abdomen, and there were also reports of stab wounds on his body. It is said that the assailants fired at him suddenly while he was inside the vehicle.
Baba Siddique, who was previously a Congress leader, recently switched allegiance to the NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar. This incident comes at a time when Maharashtra is gearing up for legislative assembly elections.
