Thrissur: A gang involved in three ATM thefts in Thrissur has been apprehended. The suspects were caught by the Tamil Nadu police at Namakkal. A confrontation occurred between the suspects and the police, during which one member of the gang was shot and killed, while another sustained gunshot wounds to the leg. The stolen money was found in a container carried by the suspects. The police have reported that the six-member gang is from Haryana and was armed.
The thefts occurred at ATMs located on Shornur Road, Mapranam, and Kolazhi, with a total loss estimated at over 60 lakh rupees. Reports indicate that 30 lakh rupees were stolen from the Mapranam ATM, 25 lakh rupees from the Kolazhi ATM, and 9.5 lakh rupees from the Shornur ATM.
The gang, wearing masks, carried out the theft between three and four in the early hours of Friday.
