Neighbor Dispute in Piravom Turns Violent: Cow Killed, Five Injured in Machete Attack

Date:

Kochi: In a dispute between neighbors in Piravom, Ernakulam district, a cow was brutally killed and five others were injured after being attacked with a machete.

The conflict arose over issues related to the rearing of cows, which escalated to this extreme act of cruelty. Following the incident, Mulanthuruthy police took P. Raju, a resident of Edakkattuvayal, into custody.

Raju had earlier filed complaints with the Mulanthuruthy Panchayat, claiming that the rearing of cows by his neighbor was causing problems with his water source and contaminating the water in his well. He later escalated the complaint to the district collector. However, after inspection, the panchayat reported that the neighbor was raising the cows in full compliance with all legal regulations.

The issues seemed to have been resolved, but a fresh argument erupted this morning, leading to a physical altercation between the two. Raju then attacked the cows with a machete, injuring five and killing one.

There were six cows in the shed at the time of the attack. The owner of the cows has indicated that they will proceed with further legal action.
