Kochi: Actor Siddique has received temporary relief in a sexual assault case. The Supreme Court has stayed his arrest for two weeks. The bench, consisting of Justices Bela M. Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, considered the plea for anticipatory bail. Siddique approached the Supreme Court seeking pre-arrest bail in response to a complaint filed by a young actress regarding sexual harassment. The Supreme Court directed that Siddique should not be arrested for two weeks. Since the High Court denied anticipatory bail on September 24, Siddique has been in hiding. Following this, the police issued a lookout notice against him in the media yesterday. The lookout notice, including Siddique’s photo, was published in various Malayalam and English newspapers.
Although the case against Siddique was registered last month, the police had not taken any action to arrest him. The allegations of sexual harassment were raised by the young actress through the media. Following these allegations, Siddique resigned from his position as General Secretary of the Malayalam film industry association ‘AMMA.’
