Kochi: The special investigation team is set to proceed with legal actions based on the Hema Committee report, without waiting to re-interview those involved in disclosures of a POCSO nature.
The team will be meeting with the complainants regarding 20 serious testimonies. The necessity for legal action will be determined based on the interest of those who have provided statements. Cases will be filed based on the testimonies of individuals who wish to proceed with legal action.
The report comprises 3,896 pages and will require the identification of individuals whose full names and addresses have not been disclosed.
On Wednesday, a meeting of the special investigation team, led by Crime Branch Chief H. Venkatesh, took place. The team assessed the numerous testimonies submitted by individuals from the film industry before the committee. Various officials have been reviewing each statement. Investigations into some other complaints are also moving forward.
The testimonies recorded in the Hema Committee report have been provided to the investigation team. The government is required to inform the High Court about the actions taken regarding the report by the third of next month. Preparations for further actions need to be made in advance of that deadline.
