Thiruvananthapuram: A mysterious shooting incident occurred at a residence in West Fort, Thiruvananthapuram, where a woman with her face covered shot another woman. The injured party is Shini, a young woman residing at the Chembakassery Residents’ Association. The incident happened around 8:30 AM at a house near the Vanchiyoor Post Office.
According to reports, a woman with her face covered came to the house and rang the doorbell. Shini’s father-in-law, Bhaskaran Nair, answered the door. The woman claimed she had a registered letter for Shini and asked to see her. When Bhaskaran Nair offered to take the letter himself, the woman insisted that only Shini could receive it as it was a registered letter. After Shini arrived, the woman said she needed a pen to sign for the letter. Bhaskaran Nair went inside to get a pen, and it was then that the shooting occurred.
Shini was shot in her right hand and was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The injury is reported to be minor. After the shooting, the assailant fled the scene. Reports are suggesting that an air gun was used, but this has not been confirmed. The police have indicated that verification will only be possible after further investigation.
According to Shini, the shooter was a woman who fired twice at her hand and twice at the floor. Bhaskaran Nair, Shini’s father-in-law, noted that the assailant appeared to have a well-built physique. Shini is employed with the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the initial assumption is that the shooter was a woman. Bhaskaran Nair noted that they did not hear the sound of a vehicle stopping or starting again.
