Despite being asked to stop the vehicle after hitting the scooter, Ajmal allegedly sped over Kunjumol and fled.
Following the incident, Dr. Sreekutty, who was in the car, has been dismissed from her job. She was a temporary doctor at the Karunagappally Valiyath Hospital in Kollam. The hospital authorities terminated her employment after she became involved in the case.
Previously, the police had received the results of a medical examination indicating that both Ajmal and Dr. Sreekutty were intoxicated. The accident occurred when they returned from a party at a friend’s house. Ajmal is facing charges of culpable homicide, and he also has cases related to drug trafficking against him. Witnesses stated that Dr. Sreekutty requested to drive the car forward after the accident. Dr. Sreekutty will also be added as a defendant in the case. The defendant claimed they drove forward due to fear of local aggression.
Meanwhile, the Rural SP stated that the investigation is ongoing and declined to provide further details, assuring that they would update the media with more information soon. The SP confirmed that Ajmal has a criminal background, including cases related to sandalwood smuggling and fraud.
Ajmal is said to have met the young doctor at the casualty department of a private hospital in Kollam. The young doctor, who was with him, reported to the police that Ajmal had taken her gold jewelry along with other possessions.
