Thrissur: Eating food has become an unquestionable thing of preference between veg and non-veg at Kalamandalam canteen which served chicken biriyani on tables for the students on July 10, breaking all barriers of traditional stigma, has marked history for the first time.
Taking into consideration of the demands of taste buds and the health of the students the university authority of Kalamandalam daring to serve non-veg prepared by the inmates at Viyyoor central jail kitchen, became liberal to the question of what to eat and what not to eat during the period of attending training for the folk arts that are being imparted to the students, only sticking to the traditional norms of eating habit in tune with the values and beliefs promulgated by the forerunners of the deemed university.
Students, teachers, and nonteaching staff, all unanimously took part in this revolutionary move with the full support of the deemed-to-be-university authority.
June 10 became a date of remembrance for the reason the the demand of the students ‘not to be restricted on veg alone’ was unanimously acknowledged by the university and even further it agreed to serve other different non-veg dishes if needed in the future
However, opposition from the side of a section of faculty members said it would detrimentally affect the students attending oil therapy as a part of their studies. Yet no complaint has been received in this regard, said the officials.
