Court Acquits All Accused in Manjeshwaram Election Bribery Case

Date:

Kasargodu: The court has acquitted all accused in the Manjeshwaram election bribery case, including BJP state president K. Surendran. The sessions court released Surendran and five other BJP leaders, who argued that the case was politically motivated. A ruling was expected on a petition for discharge submitted by Surendran and the others in September 2023, but the court directed that the petitioners must appear in person.

The case alleges that during the 2021 assembly elections, Sundar, the BSP candidate from Manjeshwaram, was offered ₹2.5 lakh and a smartphone as inducement to withdraw his candidacy, along with threats.
