Tovino Thomas Welcomes Police Inquiry

Date:

Kochi: Actor Tovino Thomas has welcomed the police investigation related to the Hema Committee report. He stated that those found guilty should be punished and emphasized that everyone should feel safe at their workplaces. Tovino Thomas told the media that he is ready to provide a statement if called by the police and stressed the need for accountability in the investigation.

He added that anyone proven guilty should face punishment, not only in the film industry but everywhere. He expressed confidence in the existing legal system and stressed that justice should follow legal procedures rather than public opinion.

Meanwhile, based on the Hema Committee report, the government has appointed a special team to investigate sexual harassment in the film industry. If testimony is received regarding sexual harassment, the special team will file a case and conduct an investigation. Previously, the government’s stance was that investigations would only be initiated upon receiving complaints. The government’s move follows allegations of sexual harassment in the film industry that emerged after the Hema Committee report was released. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced this decision.
