Chennai: In a shocking incident, the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express met with an accident at Kavarapettai, located near Gumminipoondi in Chennai Railway Division. The train traveling towards Andhra Pradesh, collided with a stationary goods train, leading to significant concerns over passenger safety and train operations. The Mysuru-Darbhanga Express train collided with a goods train in Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, leading to a fire in two passenger coaches. The accident happened at 8:21 PM near Kaveripettai, close to Tiruvallur
Several coaches of the Mysuru to Darbhanga Bhagmati Express derailed after the train collided with a freight train near the Kavaraipettai railway station. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident. Madhuri Adnal, a journalist and photographer, shared details of the incident, photos, and videos of the incident on her X (formerly Twitter) handle.
South Railway officials have confirmed that there were no casualties in the accident. Senior railway officials are currently camping at the site. As per the directive of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Minister M. Nasir is coordinating the rescue operations on-site.
